Which historical figure do you most identify with? Napoleon. The first person to completely understand that he was “the brand,” and to use the printing press to that effect; well before his election as Emperor.
Which living figure do you most admire? Sir Richard Branson. Too many billionaires, no matter how charitable, are just not that interesting.  Branson is charitable, not boring, and has a passion for entrepreneurism.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? Stubbornness
What is the trait you most deplore in others? Tie—maliciousness and jealousy
What is your greatest extravagance? Going to the beach for a few hours in the middle of a sunny afternoon.
On what occasion do you lie? To protect those I love.
What do you dislike most about your appearance? Less hair where I want and more where I don’t want with every passing year.
When and where were you happiest? I’m happiest right now with my life and routines in Miami Beach.
If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be? I’d already be fluent in Spanish.
If you could change one thing about your family what would it be? They’d be distant heirs to a Chateau in Bordeaux—with visiting privileges!
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Taking the seeds of a few ideas that I knew greatly impacted immense numbers of patients around the world and growing those seeds into an international organization whose members now impact those patients’ lives for the better.
If you died and came back as a person or thing what do you think it would be? A porpoise surfing waves somewhere in Mexico.
What is your most treasured possession? Original diplomas from my father and grandfather’s dental schools.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Anyone living in a mindset that the past was better than the right now.
Who are your heroes in real life? First responders of all kinds, be they firefighters, EMTs, or Ocean search and rescue.
What is it that you most dislike? Time wasted sitting in lines or traffic jams.
How would you like to die? With a peaceful mind, a full stomach, and champagne on my lips.
What is your motto? “It is what it is…..”
Spouse/Significant Other Name: Christian
Your City is most famous for: The most art deco period buildings in the U.S., international parties, and mannequins with very accentuated breasts.
Pets: Whippets Butch and Freyja, the official dog mascots of Big Case Marketing. And Clicquot, the official dominating cat of the household.
Dental School Name: University of Oklahoma, Residency at University of Washington
Graduation Year: 1993
Favorite clinical topic/procedure: Dental implants and sedation.
Least favorite procedure: Anything involving children especially in emergent situations.
Your favorite advanced clinical continuum (or instructor): Tie between Kois and Misch. Similar messages and both making profound long-term impacts on the clinical side of the profession.
Your favorite clinical text: Misch’s text. There are few text books where you can trust knowing, if you following the text, procedures can be predictably performed. This is one of them.
Favorite business book: Ogilvy’s ‘Confessions of an Advertising Man.’ David Ogilvy warned in the 60’s that advertising was leaving it’s foundations of measurement behind and those warnings are even more apropos for the professional business which cannot waste resources on “brand image.”
Favorite non-dental interest or activity: Locally–ocean swimming, biking, and long-board skate-boarding on South Beach’s bike path. Traveling–long board surfing when travel permits.
Favorite vacation location: Paris. Hard to not keep going back. Just as Jefferson discovered in the 1700’s, it remains a city with endless diversions awaiting at almost every random street corner!
The one place you’d most like to visit: Currently, London as it’s a bit embarrassing to have traveled extensively without having stopped there at least once.
